Associate Digital Lead · AI Associate

Senior digital leadership, one day a week.

I join your organisation as a part-time Digital Lead or AI associate: setting direction, running delivery, and turning slow manual processes into tools people use every day. You get twenty-five years of experience for a fraction of a full-time salary.

Phil Kerby

25 years as a digital lead working with some of the world’s largest organisations

The experience of a senior hire, without the salary.

Most organisations need someone to own their digital work, but not five days a week. An associate Digital Lead gives you a senior person who knows the ground, for the days you actually need.

Pay for the days you use

A regular day each week, or more during a launch. No recruitment fees, pension, or notice periods.

Start in weeks, not months

Skip the hiring cycle. I can be working with your team within an agreed timeframe from our first call.

Strategy and hands-on

I set the roadmap with your leadership and can also specify, test and build the tools myself.

Independent advice

I'm not selling a platform or an agency's hours, so recommendations follow what you need.

AI Associate

Practical, safe and measurable AI, starting where it pays back fastest.

1. Audit and opportunity
Map your workflows, find where time and money go, and say honestly whether AI is the answer or a simpler fix would do.
2. Roadmap and pilots
A phased plan built on quick wins, the right models and tools rather than custom builds, and small pilots before any big spend.
3. Data, risk and compliance
Check your data is ready, keep it out of public model training, and stay aligned with UK GDPR and government guidance on responsible AI.
4. Build and oversight
Build it myself or manage the partner who does, with audit trails, source checks and human sign-off where it matters.
5. Training and handover
Train your staff, bring them with you, and hand the system to your own team to run.

How it works

Simple to start, simple to stop.

  1. A conversation

Thirty minutes, free, to understand what you need and whether I'm the right fit.

  2. A short audit

An agreed number of days looking at your systems, team and data, ending with a prioritised plan you keep either way.

  3. Regular days

Typically one day a week, on site or remote, flexing up for launches.

  4. Clean handover

Your team is trained to run what we've built, and documented so nothing depends on me.

About

Business owner first, technologist always.

I started out as a mastering engineer, then founded my own audio post-production company, grew it to a second facility serving more than 100 record labels, and sold it to a UK record company.

For fourteen years I looked after digital product and business development for a digital content creation agency, winning and delivering work for large corporate and retail clients. In 2021 I co-founded Outside, a global leadership consultancy, where I lead its digital output.

I hold an Executive MBA from the University of Surrey, an MSc and a degree in computer science. That mix means I can sit with your board on Monday and review your developers' code on Tuesday.

Based in Guildford, Surrey. Working with clients across the UK, on site and remotely.

Start with a 30-minute conversation.

Tell me where things are stuck. I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
